After two unsatisfying brunch experiences at Acme, I didn’t think I would find myself liking their food anymore. When Y suggested to head there for lunch, truth be told, I was dreading it because he kept chanting about how their lunch was pretty good and I didn’t wanna be a bubble pooper.

Alas, I was glad I went along quietly because I really enjoyed their small bites festive menu!

We had the Avocado Croquette, Sticky Nachos & Salt Egg Yolk Chicken Strips. Not in the picture would be the truffled root vegetable fries! Man, that was really good. In fact all of them were equally as awesome. Nothing could beat a truffled purple sweet potato fries for me though! I like how they did not skim on the ingredients and made sure everything came out fairly presentable and piping hot still.

Meatballs were nicely herbed, juicy and cooked in tomato fennel sauce. Winner would be the pasta. Rigatoni cooked al dente in Arrabiata sauce. Loved the smoky, a little spicy tomato sauce  pasta dish that was well cooked! Pretty impressed with it.

Before you leave, make sure you have a taste of their Jackfruit cake!

To avoid having to wait, please call them in advance to make a reservation. Yes, even for lunch. and yes, even on a weekday!

Was torn between Japanese and French. I have a list of places to eat bookmarked on my phone and being a fickle minded person, I can’t seem to make up my mind. Alas, T and I settled for french after he saw his favourite dish…. ESCARGOT! Me, on the other hand, was tempted by the mussels. How I miss a lovely pot of mussels after last year’s trip.

I reckon  a dash of cream, more herbs, and bacon would greatly help the already fresh mussels though.

For mains we had the Coq Au Vin (braised chicken with burgundy jus) and Duck Confit (how french and apt right). It’s only fitting for a French restaurant to have duck confit on its menu and it has got to be a winner dish too!

Absolutely loved the richness of the chocolate fondant! Dark and not too sweet, just the way i like it! The creme brûlée was a little bit too runny though. Anyone knows where I can find a darn good creme brûlée in KL? The search still continues…………

They also have promos going on for different days of the week.

I definitely would wanna surrender my sweet tooth Tuesday to this place!

Friendships are easily developed when there are mutual respect and sincerity coming from both parties. I have been blessed with workmates that still remain as good friends even after I’ve left the company. T is one of them. We used to talk nonsense and laugh all the time at work. Thanks for having been there to hear my rants out and also encourage me to always be the best that I can be.

Till we meet again, next year!

There’s this special creperie place that I love going to in Shanghai. I would make it a point to visit this place whenever I’m there. Though the crepes are fairly expensive, they do live up to my expectations.

Hakka Republic has great lunch deals where they offer buy one free ones on weekdays. They have a few Malaysian style food like mee mamak and some western ones as well like pastas. You might wanna steer away from the fish and chip ones but the linguine vongole is a steal!

Linguine Vongole, Hakka Republic

Also came here for their degustation dinner. They’ve got 4 or 5 courses selection and on certain days, they offer buy one free one deals as well. I’m not too sure which days they offer it, best you could do is call in and enquire! After my fish and chips ordeal, I was very taken aback at their dinner service and quality of food. It was pretty damn good and made even better with the fact that it was buy one free one!

Honestly I was pretty contented with all the starters/appetizers that when my main came, I was actually stuffed. Nonetheless, meals were fantastic, ingredients were fresh and they really did surprise me with the dishes they put up!

I’ve been wanting to go there on a Thursday just to check out their live jazz.. oh well, guess Hakka Republic and I aren’t fated that way, I’ll just have to wait and see when the schedule permits. maybe tomorrow?

The Good Batch

The Good Batch is a nice addition to the brunch scene. I love the simple menu that doesn’t spoil you for with too many choices, much like Yeast. Except Yeast has way too many pastries that I love and can’t seem to settle for one whenever I’m there. It brings the greedy side of me out.

Anyway, onto the food!

Parisien, The Good Batch

Parisien – Three layers of french toast sandwiching turkey ham slices with some cream sauce topped with sunny side up eggs. This dish is my absolute favourite!  Though it’s definitely not very parisien, it is a nice modified version of the croque monsieur!

Norwegian, The Good BatchNorwegian- I really like this combination. If you’ve been following my blog all these while, you’ll notice that this is the dish I order most for brunch. I’ve opted to omit the capsicum + onion combination as I hate capsicums!

The Good Batch, KL

Mexican – this was nothing special really, just roti canai wrapped with some chicken and capsicums. Thought it was quite bland and the stuff kept falling out!

The one dish that would keep me going back for more and more and more has got to be the Parisien. It is absolutely delicious!
