On a constant search for the best 芋泥 (orh nee, teochew yam dessert) in town. It is quite rare to find as making it is rather tedious and considered a lost art. This place does it really well. My family loves it! They used to have a “gerai” up in pudu plaza and they had to shift out. Now they’ve settled here decently with nice interiors and air conditioning ✌🏻️

Thim Kee Steamed Fish
Off Jalan Pudu,

Thim Kee does pretty delicious and cheap chinese food in the vicinity of Pudu. They are famous for their tilapia fish done either steamed or fried. We saw a couple of tables with only two person ordering two styles of fish.. Madness, I tell you!
The steamed tilapia with black bean sauce was yum! Fish was very fresh and the sauce with just the right balance of salty sweetness. 1 fish was sufficient for the three of us because we wanted to try out some of their other signature dishes as well.
Deep fried egg, definitely not for the faint-hearted or ones who are watching their waistline! Crispy but not dripping with oil, but you’d definitely feel guilty after a few bites thinking about the amount of oil needed to crisp it up.
Crispy-skinned chicken is another one of their signature. I like how their chicken still retains its moisture even after all the deep frying.
Last but not least, no meal is complete without an order of vegetables.
The bill for the three of us came up to only about RM 50+ and we were stuffed! Be sure not to get there too late though. The place starts filling up around 1 when the working lunch crowd kicks in.
